My daughter-in-law told me she saw costumes for toddlers selling for $60! What happened to Halloween?

I know one grandbaby will be a monkey for Halloween, just as he is most days. Don't know about the other two.

Halloween? Stolen by the retailers...Chamber of Commerce?

The Halloween of my youth is no more. But I still have the memories and they are probably better than the real thing.

Funny to read this as I just had this conversation today. My seven year old Grandson asked what costume I would wear for Halloween when I was a kid. Mostly dressed as a ho-bo. What? A bum. What? We didn't buy costumes, there wasn't any money for that. We would put on our parent's clothes and some make-up and hopefully, get to a wealthier neighborhood than our own. Hopefully, we'd get something other than apples or unwrapped candy. One woman had fresh donuts! When we went to her door, she asked, Haven't you been here already? And we didn't get anything. That ho-bo look was popular in 1950.
