I just saw this headline: Why Dems Are Poised to Lose House.
Don't need to read it. I already know the reason -- They dared to put a black man in the White House and a 60-something woman in charge of a House full of (mostly) guys.
Enough said.

I don't believe everything I read. I can't wait to vote, and I'll be taking my daughter with me, so that she will know how important voting is, and she will have something to share with her little friends. I will be voting no matter what, even if I am puking sick. There are a lot of us out there.

geezermom---be sure to show your daughter my "birth certificate" (in the next post) so she will know she can't always believes what she sees, even with her own eyes. There are lots of ways to trick people. It's a dangerous world she'll live in. See you at the polls!
I think your bottom line is absolutely right. Thanks for telling me about your blog. Because I am legally blind I cannot see photos and graphics, and I know I miss a lot, but I enjoyed your text.
In the past, I was able to enjoy fall foliage on the Blue Ridge Parkway just north of me. Here are some lines from “The House Beautiful” by Robert Louis Stevenson which I think you’ll appreciate:
To make this Earth, our hermitage, A cheerful and a changeful page, God’s bright and intricate device Of days and seasons doth suffice.
Hard work for those of us who are the "lucky Americans" (able to begin college, careers middle 20th century) is how we will remain upbeat for benefit of children and grandchildren. Tell me if you figure it out! -naomi
Actually, Nancy is now 70! And she's going back to slug it out. Brave woman though I often criticize.

BJ---Welcome to Birds on a Wire! And, thanks for the lovely poem. All of our leaves are gone, but they were stunningly beautiful for at least 2-3 weeks, some kind of record.
Naomi---I never really thought of myself, or my generation, as lucky, but I think you're right. When I got out of college, I think it took me 5 minutes to get a job. You bring up a very good point, one worth some serious thought. If I figure it out, I expect to be given a Nobel Prize.
Jan---Maybe 70 is the new 50, at least for Nancy P. You go, girl!
