There are two new films I'd like to see this summer.

Julie and Julia was released today, I believe. Anything Nora Ephron does is fine with me, and if you add Meryl Streep to the mix, I'd walk 5 miles to see it.

Here's the trailer for Julie and Julia:

The other one I'm interested in is Eat, Pray, Love but I don't think it's out yet. Julia Roberts stars in this one, so it could be great or not. No clips available, but when they are, I'll add a link to this post.

Have you seen anything this summer that you'd recommend?

Thanks for your note, Paula.

Re: Eat, Pray, Love -- have you seen the author, Elizabeth Gilbert, on TED Talk? If not, it's exhilarating. Go to http://www.ted.com. Look for it under the left-hand column for "most favorited all-time."

Hi Paula, thanks for your comments and lovely long e-mail. I'm behind at the moment but hope to answer in a few days.

We saw Julia and Julie yesterday--it's going on my permanent favorites list. Warm, engaging, funny. Meryl Streep channeled Julia Child completely. The interchanging of stories added interest. Each story would have been enough taken alone but they were seamlessly intertwined.

I read Julia Child's autobiography, My Life In France, written with her husband's grand-nephew, Alex Prud'Homme, in 2006 and enjoyed the inner view of her life. The movie was true to the book, and to her spirit.

Altogether worth while, and way more than a chick flick.
