Every now and then, we have to go to New York or Boston. We kind of dread it, but often it turns out to be a great day. A different kind of beauty. Here's a little postcard of shots taken several weeks ago from a cellphone through the windshield. Yes, that is the Empire State Building and that is Macy's on 34th Street, New York. Enjoy!
These big photos really jumped out of the screen at me. Something about the candid shots taken by a cell phone from your car really worked well here. It's so different from my normal (pine trees!) environment, that I just looked and looked in fascination. It has been a long time since I've been to the City.

Thanks, Beth, that was exactly how I felt when I took them. Awed. Driving down 34th Street shooting pictures (please don't tell NYPD), I felt both energized and relaxed by the city moving all around me. It was a glorious day, as you can see, and the bright sun made the buildings look almost like parts of a concrete forest. So different from where we live, as you say.
